150 core shelters to benefit homeless indigents in Isabela
CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela, July 4 (PIA) -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 2 and the city government of Cauayan have joined its resources to construct 150 units core shelter project at barangay San Pablo in this city.
Oliver Francisco, city planning and development coordinator, said DSWD 2 and the city government of Cauayan forged a memorandum of agreement recently to construct the units to benefit indigent Cauayan families, particularly those under risks like residents of landslide and flood-prone areas identified by city disaster officials.
Francisco said the DSWD has allotted P70,000 each for the construction of one unit core shelter while the city government provided an additional P20,000 each.
He said the construction of the core shelter project has already started and the laborers are the selected beneficiary’s family heads.
One hundred units are targeted to be finished the end of this year while the remaining 50 will be constructed next year.
Francisco said the fund from DSWD and the LGU Cauayan city had already been in place to ensure the continuous construction of the housing project.
The city social welfare and development office has also started the screening of beneficiaries for the core shelter project. (PIA2, Isabela)
