BAGUIO CITY, July 28 (PIA) -- The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority-Cordillera (Tesda-CAR), in partnership with EEI Corporation, is currently providing skills training on welding to 24 women at the Tesda Regional Training Center (RTC) along Loakan Road, here.

EEI Corporation is recognized as one of the leading construction companies in the Philippines, known for the quality of its work and the excellence of its workforce.

Tesda RTC Administrator John Adawey, in an interview, said the training is in line with the government’s effort to provide access to relevant, high-quality and efficient technical education and skills development to boost the employability and competitiveness of the country’s workforce.

This is a two and a half month program. The trainees will be readily provided with employment as EEI will absorb them to work on its local contracts.

Under the said program, Tesda selects the trainees and provides the venue and welding equipment while EEI Corporation provides the training program, trainers and other needed training equipment, paraphernalia and materials.

Meanwhile, Adawey said that more and more students and even graduates, both male and female, are coming to Tesda for skills education and training as well as for national assessment and certification.

Aside from welding, Tesda-CAR RTC is also offering training programs and assessment on Mechatronics, Automotive Servicing and Electrical Installation and Maintenance, including English proficiency.

Tesda-CAR as an International Standard Organization (ISO)- certified, which assures high standard and quality training, ensures its trainees, especially the Tesda Specialistas (with TESDA national certification) high level of employability, Adawey said.

Tesda Secretary General Joel Villanueva, in his recent visit, affirmed the high employment market for tech-voc graduates and Tesda specialistas, especially in the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), food and beverage sector and the construction industry, which includes welders. (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
