ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal, February 18 (PIA) -- In celebration of the nation’s EDSA Revolution victory and National Arts Month, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) Committee on Visual Arts is staging the handover ceremony of “The Human Cordon,” a 24” x 30” oil on canvas work which depicts a Filipino family in ‘People Power’ protest.
The painting served as the basis for a special postcard which was issued by Philippine Airlines in time for President Cory Aquino’s second state visit to the U.S. in 1989.
Artist and Committee on Visual Arts head Nemesio R. Miranda, also known as Nemiranda, believes that “Human Cordon” is an ideal gift to the Aquino clan on the 26th anniversary of the EDSA phenomenon.
The masterpiece will be accorded to Ballsy Aquino-Cruz, who will represent her brother, Pres. Benigno Aquino III in a formal handover ceremony at the National Conference of PVAF: TRE (Philippine Visual Arts Festival 2012 The Rizal Experience) on the morning of February 19 at Thunderbird Resort-Binangonan, Rizal.
The invitational event has been made possible through the joint efforts of the NCCA, SM City Taytay, the Rizal Provincial Government, Rotary International District 3800, Thunderbird Resorts, and TV5, television partner for the National Conference.
