Bacoor launches “Walk and Run for Yes!” fun walk

TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite, June 5 (PIA) -- The local government of this soon-to-be-city will hold a walk-for-a-cause dubbed ‘Walk and Run for Yes!’ (Alay Lakad/Takbo Tungo sa Pagiging Lungsod ng Bacoor) this coming June 16, at 5:00 am along Molino Boulevard.

The event in cooperation with various sectors and organizations within the municipality is part of the local government’s information awareness campaign, as it gears towards becoming a city.

Last April 10, President Benigno ‘Noynoy’ Aquino signed the Bacoor Cityhood Bill, converting the 341-year-old municipality into a component city. A referendum will be held on June 23, which Bacooreños are encouraged to participate in.

The ‘fun walk’ will have two starting points – at Emilus Mart-RFC Molino and near 678 in Brgy. Bayanan (along Molino Boulevard) – and will end at McDonalds-Molino, where a brief programme will be held.

More than 8,000 participants from different sectors (local and barangay officials, municipal employees, teachers, students, homeowner associations, non-government organizations, environmentalists, civic-oriented groups, among others) are expected to join this event.

There will be no registration fee participants would just have to pre-register at the Public Information Office, 4/F of the Municipal Hall, from 16 May-11 June (M-F, 9am to 5pm), and/or Emilus Mart branches (RFC Molino and Molino 3, M-Sat, 8am-7pm). (CPG/Ruel Francisco, PIA-Cavite/PIO Bacoor)
