TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite, June 15 (PIA) -- The provincial tourism office here announced that preparation is underway for the celebration of the Regada Festival.

Regada is a water festival held in Cavite City every June 24 of the year. It is also the date of the San Juan Bautista festivity.

The festival will be staged in the one kilometer stretch along P. Burgos Avenue, which is the main thoroughfare of the city.

The street will be rigged with sprinklers and mobile sound system to transform it to the venue of the biggest wet party in the country.

The festival will culminate with the holding of Caracol ni San Juan Bautista at around 11:00 a.m., where people celebrate for the blessings by joining the “Paulan.”

The city government headed by Mayor Romeo Ramos, together with the City Tourism Council and the City Tourism Office headed by Remy Ordonez will be the lead agencies for the said festival.

Regada is derived from Spanish word “regar” from the Chavacano speaking Caviteños, literally means “to sprinkle” or “to douse with water”. (RF-PIA 4A, Cavite/Provincial Tourism Office)
