DENR to sign MOA with LGUs for mangrove rehab

TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite, June 21 (PIA) – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-Cavite) hold a “simultaneous” memorandum of agreement (MOA) signing tomorrow morning with barangay local government units (LGUs) which will undertake projects mangrove rehabilitation and stream bank stabilization.

The MOA will be signed by 50 barangays captains from 10 municipalities and one city in Cavite. This will be held in Barangay Poblacion in Kawit, Cavite.

The project includes 10 hectares of mangrove rehabilitation within the nine coastal municipalities and one city and 20 kilometers of stream bank rehabilitation in the five major rivers namely: Zapote, Imus, Ylang-Ylang, Canas and Maragondon River.

Signatories for the Pledge of Commitment are the following: Office of the Provincial Governor, DILG, DPWH, Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA), PG-ENRO, DepEd, mayor of the 10 municipalities and one city, the partners /volunteers namely: Philippine Fleet, Army Reserve Command (ARESCOM), Dela Salle University-Dasmariñas (DLSU-D), Philippine Bottlers Incorporated (Imus plant), Ismael Pakingan Quarry and the DENR.
