TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite, July 5 (PIA) -- The Department of Public Works and Highways-Cavite District Engineering Office (DPWH-DEO) launched several activities to complement the week-long celebration of the agency's 114th anniversary last month.

The week-long celebration with the theme, “Katiwalian Labanan, Para sa Bayan” started with the removal of illegal structures and informal settlers encroaching on the road along Tejero-General Trias-Amadeo-Tagaytay Road.

Ornamental plants and fruit bearing seedlings were also planted along Governor Drive as part of DPWH’s environmental awareness program, clean and green campaign of the government and cleaning and beautification of roadsides in the province.

The maintenance crew on the other hand declogged the canals along Tanza-Trece Martires City-Indang Road in preparation for the rainy season. Also, directional signs in strategic areas of national roads were inspected to assist the motorists in their travel, especially during night time.

The activities done nationwide by DPWH is a deviation from the usual social and cultural activities undertaken in the past years. (CPG/RBF, PIA-Cavite/DPWH-Cavite-DEO)
