Cavite town to conduct quarterly blood donation drive

CARMONA, Cavite, July 6 (PIA) -- The municipal health office will conduct its quarterly blood donation drive on July 13 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy (PT/OT) clinic of the main health center.

The Carmona Rural Health Unit (RHU) is targeting to collect at least 50 bags of blood from the activity which will undergo blood matching at the Saint Luke’s Medical Center.

It will be administered by the hospital's Blood Council before it will be stored at the Cavite Provincial Blood Bank at the Korean-Philippine Friendship Hospital in Trece Martires City.

The activity is an annual project of the local government to encourage the public to donate blood to help others who are in need.

Dr. Homer Aguinaldo, municipal health officer said all donors will receive a blood donor’s card with no expiry date and are entitled to a free medical check-up, blood typing and blood testing on Hepatitis B and C, Malaria, Syphilis and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

Interested donors will be screened before the procedure to determine their blood type and their physical fitness. They must be 18 to 60 years old weighing not less than 50 kilos, must have a pulse rate of 60-100bpm, a blood pressure of 90-160 systolic and 60-100 diastolic and a haemoglobin count of not less than 125g/l.
