Tublay officials craft Comprehensive Children’s Code

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet, July 4 (PIA) -- Town officials of Tublay passed an ordinance on a Comprehensive Children’s Code to properly safeguard the welfare of children.

Based on their assessment, the officials recognized the need for such measure and pushed for the crafting and passage of the measure in harmony with related national laws.

Authored by Coun. Marvin Mayos, Municipal Ordinance Number 2012 – 03 underscored the the Child and Youth Welfare Code, RA 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, and RA 7658 or An Act Prohibiting Employment of Children Below Fifteen Years Old in Public and Private Undertaking among others as legal basis for its passage.

The measure covers adoption, child abuse, child in conflict with the law, those in need of special protection, those gravely threatened or are endanger of survival, and those used in trafficking, prostitution and pornography and related concerns.

It also gives prominence to the rights and responsibilities of the child, parents, community, society, among others defining their involvement in programs or activities for the welfare of the children.

The ordinance was forwarded to the provincial board for favorable endorsement and is referred the committee on Social Services for further study and recommendation. (SCA-PIA CAR, Benguet)

Tublay officials craft Comprehensive Children’s Code

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet, July 4 (PIA) - - Town officials of Tublay passed an ordinance on Comprehensive Children’s Code in efforts to properly safeguard the welfare of children.

Town officials also recognized the need for such measure based on their assessment in their performance on children’s concern mandated by the Local Government Code or Republic Act 7160, the reason they pushed for the crafting and passage of the measure in harmony with related national laws.
