Tree planting activity highlights Antique Independence Day celeb

SAN JOSE, Antique June 13 (PIA) -- Antiquenos joined the rest of the nation in yesterday’s commemoration of 114th Independence Day thru activities including flag raising ceremony at the EBJ Freedom Park, wreathlaying at the statue of the country's national and local heroes and tree planting activity at Ilabas, Sibalom, Antique.

After the program, a group of employees of the provincial government led by Javier and Vice Governor Rosie A. Dimamay proceeded to Barangay Ilabas, Sibalom for a tree planting activity.

More than a hundred of fruit and indigenous trees were planted at the roadside of Barangay Ilabas going to the north to mark the nation’s 114th independence at the same time bolster the national greening program of government.

Governor Exequiel B. Javier said that preserving Antique’s environment, mountains and forest is the best legacy this generation can pass on to their children.

He also said that his administration is giving priority to the youth's education and protection of environment. (MLG/PSM/PIA6 Antique)
