Bangued LGU to launch garbage recycle competition
BANGUED, Abra, June 27 (PIA) -- The local government unit of Bangued will be launching next month its ecological program dubbed RYAN (Recycle Your Garbage Now Na) to enjoin schools to participate in the garbage recycling competition.
The competition is for public elementary and two secondary schools in Bangued. Private schools will also be invited to participate but will be in a separate category.
The focus areas of the competition will be on the skills application in the recycling of garbage materials with innovations which will include the school’s lay-out display of its finished materials; and a clean and green component which will include the school beautification and greening initiative.
The competition will be a year-round activity in order to look into the sustainability of the efforts of the schools in the cleaning and greening component of the project. Hence, there will be pre and post evaluation by the members of the Board of Judges.
Awarding of winners will be done during the culmination of the program to coincide with the celebration of the Bangued Town Fiesta next year.
Members of the Board of Judges will be composed of representatives from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), the Department of Agriculture (DA), and the Rotary Club of Bangued.
Mayor Ryan S. Luna also approved the proposal to include the barangays in the competition to sustain the participation of the community people in the clean and green program of the LGU.
The RYAN (Recycle Your Garbage Now Na) program is the contribution of the Bangued local government unit(LGU) in the National Greening Program of President Aquino to restore our deteriorating ecology. (JDP/MTBB-PIA CAR Abra)
