TABUK CITY, Kalinga, June 17 (PIA) - - The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Training Center here announced that the province has allotted 300 slots for five technical and vocational courses under the TESDA’s training for work scholarship program (TWSP).

Engr. Eduardo Tamayao, OIC of TESDA’s provincial training center (PTC), said the scholarship covers the payment of training cost and assessment fee. He said the 300 slots under its sponsorship program has a corresponding government subsidy of P2.5 million.

Gregg Bagtang, PTC Registrar, said the courses offered under the training for work scholarship program are carpentry for 60 trainees for 21 days; 80 slots for masonry for 34 days; 60 for electrical for 36 days; 80 for shielded metal arc welding for 34 days; and 40 on gas metal arc welding or 34 days.

According to him, almost all the scholarship slots in the courses offering are filled up and trainings are on-going. “We expect that all trainings under the TWSP will be finished November this year,” Bagtang said adding trainees are divided in batches.

He said slots were equitably distributed to the seven municipalities and this city. The 300 slots under TWSP are aside from the 300 slots offered under TESDA’s paid training courses, Bagtang said. (JDP/PAB-PIA CAR,Kalinga)
