DA forms its own web portal for transparency

TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte, June 22 (PIA) -- The Department of Agriculture (DA) has formulated its agency’s response for the administration’s call for transparency in government transactions by means of a web portal.

In his visit to the DA Regional Field Unit in Eastern Visayas in June 7, Director Gary Glenn Fantastico of the DA-Information Technology Center for Agriculture and Fisheries (ITCAF), together with ITCAF Consultant Carlo Cachuela, introduced to the DA-8 management the “Matuwid na Daan Project.”

The said project, which stands for the DA Accountability Network, will be launched in July this year.

The project is basically a web portal that will provide readily accessible information on DA’s performance and accountability.

Correspondingly, it will reflect the agriculture department’s advocacy on adherence to accountability and transparency in the pursuit of food security while promoting public awareness of its community-focused projects and activities across the country.

It was learned that the web will also present DA’s projects to the public, along with the corresponding fund allocation as well as cumulative disbursement, completion period, and other related data.

Through the web, the public will be given the chance to monitor and rate the department on the proper use of government resources. (PIA 8)
