MAASIN CITY, Southern Leyte, June 27 (PIA) -- The National Statistics Office-Southern Leyte office personnel underwent three levels of trainings in preparation for the Labor Force Survey (LFS) and the Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES) First Visit.

Provincial Statistical Officer Mae R. Almonte, in a press release, said that the three levels of trainings were set in different dates and venues.

“The Task Force Training was held June 18-22 in NSO-Manila; the second Level Training is on June 25-29 at the Visayas State University (VSU), in Baybay, Leyte; and the third one will take place on July 2-6 at the NSO-Provincial Office here,” she said.

The said training is aimed to equip NSO personnel with the knowledge and expertise in the field operation procedures, Almonte said.

She further reported that the enumeration will start right after the trainings, saying that, “it is targeted to start by June 7 until July 31, this year."

The FIES is undertaken every three years to gather information on the income distribution and levels of living and spending patterns of every Filipino family, while the LFS is a quarterly survey that aims to provide a quantitative framework for the preparation of plans and formulation of policies affecting the labor market.

Another survey that will be separately undertaken is the Consumers Expectation Survey (CES), which will start on July 2 and will end July 15, Almonte further noted.

The CES was commissioned by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) to gather information on the consumers’ assessment of their financial situation, economic condition of the country, and the overall performance of the government.

Almonte said that all trained NSO personnel will visit the sample households in the province to conduct a face-to-face interview.

“We therefore request the full cooperation of the sample households to participate in the survey, likewise the support and assistance of the local government units that are essential to the success of this undertaking,” Almonte requested. (PIA8, Southern Leyte)
