DOLE invites school heads to attend the 1st Mindanao Career Advocacy Confab

OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental, July 14 (PIA) -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has invited all schools, colleges and universities in the province to attend the First Northern Mindanao Career Advocacy Congress on July 23.

Jose Robles, provincial director of DOLE-Misamis Occidental, said the congress will be held in coordination with the various stakeholders at Pearlmont Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City.

The importance of the undertaking must be emphasized in the light of persistent job-skills mismatch as pointed out by President Aquino, which led to the creation of the Poverty Reduction Cabinet Cluster, Robles said.

Meanwhile, Atty. Johnson G. Caňete, regional director of DOLE-10, said the congress is among the initiatives of the cluster, as well, as the declaration of July as Career Guidance Month.

It also aims to provide a venue for members of the Network of Guidance Counselors, as well, as the DOLE offices to gather and share insights on how to mold the minds of the youth and support them towards their successful entry into the world of careers.

Among the participants of the congress are the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) managers, job placement officers, Career Guidance Network-10 members, other government agencies, and the private sectoral partners such as the Peoples Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP).
