Tagum’s ‘Kasalang Bayan’ weds 36 couples

TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte, July 4 (PIA) –- Thirty six couples officially tied the knot in a mall on June 28 during a “Kasalang Bayan” sponsored by the local government unit here.

The LGU of Tagum City brought its “Kasalang Bayan” as a highlight in the bridal fair and exhibition dubbed “Kasalang Tagumeño” at the atrium of the Gaisano Mall of Tagum.

Tagum City Mayor Rey T. Uy administered the civil wedding ceremony and imparted an inspirational message, emphasizing on responsible parenthood that would create a stable family for a much stronger community.

The LGU shouldered most of the expenses for the wedding, including the gowns and barongs worn by the newly-weds, which were lent for free from the sponsoring boutiques in town.

The couples were given free accommodation with meals by the hotels in Tagum as part of wedding gift from the organizers.

The couples only spent P150 for the Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR) from the Civil Registrar’s Office.

Alma Uy, who sits as the President of the City of Tagum Tourism Council, attended the event and personally gave gifts to the newly-wed couples.

LGU Tagum is quarterly pursuing this kind of service to Tagumeños, especially for the unmarried couples. The “Kasalang Bayan” is anchored on the goal of minimizing the number of illegitimate children in the city.

The “KasalangTagumeño” which is now on its 3rd year, is an event that converges key players from hotels and restaurants and wedding planners in one setting to provide free consultations.

The event also provides venue for Tagumeños for a one-stop-shop in preparing wedding celebrations.

The city’s Civil Registrar’s Office spearheaded the event in partnership with the United Restaurant and Hotel Owners, Managers Executive in Tagum City (UR HOME TC), City of Tagum Tourism Office and 3G Eventologists Management. (CIO-Tagum/Louie Jay Losaria)
