DavNor presents “Convergence for Peace” model
TAGUM CITY, July 14 (PIA) -- During the Regional Peace and Order Council meeting held last July 11 in Davao City, Governor Rodolfo del Rosario reported to the council the output of his administration’s centerpiece program, Convergence for Peace and Development.
Now on its 14th leg since August 2011, the convergence team composed of the various line departments of the provincial government, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police and private sector, reaches out to far-flung areas in Davao del Norte.
It rolls out various socio-economic services in human health, agriculture, animal legal, support to the environment, among others.
Through the Convergence program, 10,088 rural folks have gained access to various health services in the last six months; and another 4,697 individuals were given assistance by the Provincial Social Welfare Office.
This year, 32 critical barangays in Davao del Norte have been identified as convergence beneficiaries.
Del Rosario encouraged other LGUs in the Region XI to adopt the program, which was patterned after AFP’ Peace and Development Outreach Program, and make LGUs a critical component in the larger peace framework (r.tagalo/pio davnor)
