PBBM leads PAFF program, announces new irrigation in Bohol

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol (PIA) — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. personally led the distribution of various government assistance to farmers, fisherfolk, and their families under the Presidential Assistance to Farmers, Fisherfolk, and Families (PAFF) program on June 26 at the Carlos P. Garcia Sports Complex.

Agri-fishery assistance packages, including farm machinery, fishing equipment, seeds, and fertilizers, were turned over as part of the Department of Agriculture’s (DA) ongoing commitment to boost the agriculture sector amid challenges posed by El Nino.

The President distributed cash assistance worth 100 million pesos to the provincial governments of Bohol and Cebu and 10,000 pesos each to 20 select beneficiaries, in addition to the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) cash assistance of P10,000 each to 10,000 farmers and fishermen under its Ayuda para sa Kapos ang Kita (AKAP) Program.

“Alam kong higit 13,000 pamilya at higit 14,000 magsasaka at mangingisda sa Bohol ang lubos na naapektuhan ng El Niño noong mga nakaraang buwan. Kaya sana po ay makatulong ang mga programa ng gobyerno at ang dala naming ayuda upang tuluyan na kayong makabawi sa mga hamong dinadaanan ninyo,” Marcos said.

The President also announced that the Mabini-Cayacay Small Reservoir Irrigation Projects, which are bound to irrigate more than 500 hectares of farmland in the municipalities of Mabini and Alicia, are near completion.

Other government agencies, such as the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and the Office of House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, also extended assistance to the attendees of the event.
