QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — Senator Joel Villanueva donated P50 million to 10 hospitals based in Quezon City as part of his Medical Access Program (MAP).

Together with Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, Senator Villanueva distributed the P50 million fund to 10 hospitals in the city in a ceremony at city hall, Wednesday morning.

At the same time, a memorandum of agreement was signed between the Department of Health (DOH) and 10 QC-based hospitals for the turn-over of such funds as part of the Medical Access Program (MAP) fund sponsored by Villanueva.

Of the P50 million fund, 10 hospitals received P5 million each from East Avenue Medical Center, Lung Center of the Philippines, National Children’s Hospital, National Kidney and Transplant Institute, Philippine Children’s Medical Center, Philippine Heart Center, Philippine Orthopedic Center, Quezon City General Hospital, Quirino Memorial Medical Center and Veterans Memorial Medical Center.

In his message, Mayor Belmonte thanked Villanueva for his action to strengthen the response to have a healthy population.

Health is one of the senator’s top priorities that will allow a greater number of citizen access to the healthcare system.

He said he supports this commitment to deliver help to those in need of medical services.

Senator Villanueva said that if he is known as a supporter of jobs and training in the country, the health program is also his number one priority.

He said every working citizen needs to be healthy in order to support the family.

QC is the first among the LGUs to be a partner in the distribution of medical aid to hospitals because the city is home to numerous specialty and large hospitals in the country. (PIA-NCR)
