MANILA, (PIA) — A hundred couples from Malabon City tied the knot in a grand mass wedding ceremony officiated by Mayor Jeannie Sandoval on Sunday.
The event, dubbed “Kasalang Bayan 2024: Kakampi Habambuhay,” was held at the Malabon Sports Complex and aimed to help couples who want to get married but face financial constraints.

Ito ay sagrado at nararapat na pahalagahan,” Mayor Jeannie said in her address to the newlyweds.
This marks the second mass wedding conducted by the local government. Last year, 105 couples were united in marriage during the city’s Kasalang Bayan event.
The couples exchanged vows in front of their families and friends, who served as witnesses.
They celebrated by sharing cakes, dining together, and enjoying a glass of wine, symbolizing their commitment, love, and trust. Each couple also received a cash gift of P5,000 from the local government.
The event featured a performance by Joey, the vocalist of the band Side A, who serenaded the newlyweds. The ceremony concluded with a fireworks display outside the venue.

In attendance were City Administrator Dr. Alexander Rosete, Malabon’s First Gentleman Cong. Ricky Sandoval, city councilors, department heads, employees who served as committee members, and the couples’ families.
Mayor Sandoval pledged ongoing support for the newly married couples as they embark on their new journey together.
City Administrator Dr. Rosete echoed the mayor’s sentiments, emphasizing the importance of the commitment the couples have made.
The event was a heartwarming reminder of the community’s commitment to support love and unity among its residents. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
