1,042 farmers in Mountain Province get PFFA cash grant

BAUKO, Mountain Province (PIA) – The Department of Agriculture recently disbursed P5.2 million  in financial assistance  to more than a thousand  farmer beneficiaries in Mountain Province  under the Rice Farmers’ Financial Assistance (RFFA) program.

A total of 1,042 farmers from the municipalities of Sadanga, Barlig, Bauko, Besao, Bontoc, Sabangan, and Sagada, received  P5,000 each during the RFFA payout held at the Bauko Covered Gym on September 19, 2024.

The RFFA program provides P5,000 financial assistance to rice farmers tilling  less than two hectares to compensate for the loss of  income rice farmers due to the drop in prices of palay, and  support them with  rising costs of production.

Judy Lingbanan, a beneficiary from Barlig, said  she will use the cash assistance for the needs in her rice fields. She expressed her gratitude to the government particularly the DA for giving such assistance.
