DAGUPAN CITY (PIA) – Around 10,000 employment opportunities will be available for job seekers in Pangasinan during job fairs organized by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for the Labor Day celebration on Thursday, May 1.
Rhoda Dingle, officer-in-charge head of DOLE Central Pangasinan, said the job fairs will offer a broad range of vacancies, for both local and overseas employment.
“These job openings cover various industries, including administrative and support services, accommodation and food services, financial and insurance activities, and wholesale and retail trade, as well as vehicle repair services,” Dingle said during PIA Pangasinan’s Pantongtongan Tayo on April 29.
The fairs, coordinated with Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs) and local government units (LGUs), will be held at the Provincial Training and Development II in Lingayen, Robinsons Place Calasiao, and CB Mall in Urdaneta City.
Applicants are encouraged to bring multiple copies of their résumés, school credentials, and other documents for a smooth application process.
“Some job seekers may be hired on the spot (HOTS)… We also have freebies like shirts for the first 30 HOTS,” Dingle added.
She noted that Pangasinan job fairs consistently attract a high turnout.
To increase chances of getting hired, applicants should come well-prepared, apply to multiple matched positions, and present themselves professionally.
“Don’t be nervous and just be yourself. DOLE personnel will be on site, ready to assist and answer questions. All applicants will receive proper support,” she assured.
Other activities include Zumba sessions, the Kadiwa ng Pangulo market, and a learning session for informal workers who received DOLE livelihood aid.
National government agencies such as the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), Pag-IBIG Fund, Social Security System (SSS), and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) will also be present and set up a booth to offer their services.
DOST and DTI will offer support for those interested in entrepreneurship or technology assistance programs, while TESDA will provide information on skills training and scholarships.
Pag-IBIG Fund, PhilHealth, and SSS will assist with membership concerns, contribution updates, and benefit inquiries.
The job fair aims to bring opportunities closer to applicants and help match them with jobs suited to their skills. (CCMT/JCDR, PIA Pangasinan)
