LAGAWE, Ifugao (PIA) — The province Ifugao continues to lead in nutrition program implementation with the provincial local government unit, ten municipalities, one barangay and two nutrition workers conferred awards during the 2024 Regional Nutrition Awarding ceremony in Baguio City recently.
The province of Ifugao received the Nutrition Honor Award for the provincial category after being awarded the CROWN for six consecutive years.
Asipulo was conferred the Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) award for its effective implementation of nutrition programs for three consecutive years.
The Amduntog Barangay Nutrition Committee (BNC) was adjudged as the Best BNC in the Cordillera Administrative Region, and Minda Matunno of Camandag as the Regional Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar. Amduntog and Camandag are barangays of Asipulo.
Alfonso Lista and the province were also awarded as Quality Nutrition Program Implementers.
The Green Banner Seal of Compliance (GBSC) was conferred to the municipalities of Aguinaldo, Banaue, Hingyon, Hungduan, and Lamut for their sustainable intervention programs to combat and eradicate malnutrition especially among children.
The LGUs of Aguinaldo, Alfonso Lista, Asipulo, Banaue, Hingyon, Hungduan, Kiangan, Lamut, Mayoyao, Tinoc and the province received special awards for achieving below 10 percent stunting prevalence in 2023.
Also cited for the continuous decrease of stunting prevalence from year 2021 – 2023 were the LGUs of Ifugao, Asipulo, Hungduan, Kiangan, Lamut, and Mayoyao.
Lamut LGU was also cited for hiring a permanent nutrition staff pursuant to Executive Order 138 s. 2021, or the “Mandanas Ruling”.
Lamut Municipal Nutrition Action Officer Reynaldo Nalliw was a finalist for the Regional Search for Outstanding MNAO.
Every year, the National Nutrition Committee recognizes LGUs for their outstanding performance in nutrition program implementation, and to outstanding nutrition workers whose work have contributed to improved nutrition status in their respective areas. (JDP/MBL-PIA CAR, Ifugao)
