11 NCR LGUs pass the 2023 Seal of Good Local Governance

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) –The National Capital Region makes history this year as 11 of its Local Government Units were declared passers of the 2023 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Program.

The highly-urbanized cities of Caloocan, Malabon, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Pasay, Pasig, San Juan, Valenzuela, and Quezon City were able to sail through the ten (10) governance areas of (1) Financial Administration, (2) Disaster Preparedness, (3) Social Protection and Sensitivity, (4) Health Compliance and Responsiveness, (5) Sustainable Education, (6) Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness, (7) Safety, Peace & Order, (Environmental Management, (9) Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture and the Arts, and (10) Youth Development.

With the inclusion of additional indicators across several governance areas, all 11 were able to meet the standards of governance set by the aforementioned program.

Prior to the conferment of the coveted SGLG for 2023, the 11 LGUs were shortlisted and endorsed by the DILG-NCR Regional Office to the Council of Good Local Governance last October 2023.

In the rigorous final assessment stage which was held last November 2023, none of the shortlisted LGUs were fazed by the validation process as they were able to prove themselves worthy of the SGLG based on their exemplary performance as shown by their compliance to the indicators of the all governance areas.

With 11 highly-urbanized cities passing the SGLG, this marks an all-time high as the turnout for this year showed the highest number of passers for the National Capital Region in the history of the SGLG program. (DILG-NCR/PIA-NCR)
