129 members of 4Ps hired-on-the-spot in DSWD-led job caravans eligible for cash aid

A total of 129 beneficiaries of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) who were hired instantly during the ‘Trabaho sa Bagong Pilipinas Para sa 4Ps’ job fairs held in four regions were declared eligible for the agency’s Sustainable Livelihood Program’s (SLP) employment assistance fund (EAF) of Php5,000.

“The EAF was offered to those who secured employment during the job fairs in Regions 6 (Western Visayas); 7 (Negros Oriental); 11 (Davao Region); and National Capital Region (NCR). The EAF is under the SLP’s Employment Facilitation (EF) Track which provides assistance to help participants to access appropriate employment opportunities,” DSWD spokesperson Asst. Secretary Irene Dumlao said on Tuesday (March 4).

Asst. Secretary Dumlao said the ‘Trabaho sa Bagong Pilipinas Para sa 4Ps’ job fair is a government initiative that aims to assist 4Ps beneficiaries in finding a job and ensure that they will not slide back to poverty once they exit or graduate from the program.

“Maraming kadahilanan ng pag-exit o pag-graduate sa 4Ps households sa programa pero lagi po naming sinasabi na hindi sila pababayaan ng gobyerno. Kaya gumagawa tayo ng ganitong klaseng programa para masiguro na hindi na sila babalik sa pagiging mahirap at mayroon na silang siguradong pagkukunan ng kanilang mga pangangailangan,” Asst.Secretary Dumlao pointed out.

The DSWD spokesperson said more than 20,000 4Ps beneficiaries who participated in the ‘Trabaho sa Bagong Pilipinas Para sa 4Ps’ job fairs also received financial assistance from the agency.

The nationwide job fair kicked-off in the NCR on January 31. It was also rolled out in Western Visayas on February 13; Davao Region on February 15; and Negros Oriental on February 20.

The DSWD will roll out the job caravan in other provinces in the coming months to reach more 4Ps beneficiaries.

The Trabaho sa Bagong Pilipinas job fair is organized by the DSWD, in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and other key agencies, to assist 4Ps beneficiaries to acquire employment opportunities and other services necessary for pre-employment processing.
