132 Abrenians finish TESDA’s Bread and Pastry Training course

BANGUED, Abra (PIA) –- The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) continues to produce highly skilled Abrenians to boost the employment status of the province.

This month, a total of 132 Abrenians finished the Bread and Pastry Training course underTESDA’s Special Training for Employment Program (STEP). These trainees came from six municipalities namely Luba, Bucay, Tayum, Villaviciosa, Lagayan and San Quintin with 22 trainees per town.

Senior Technical Education and Skills Development Specialist Fred Baroña of TESDA-Abra said that this training program was started in October   2022 in the aftermath the 6.5 Magnitude earthquake that hit hardly the province.  This is one of the rehabilitation efforts of TESDA for the province.

“This training program is a help from the other offices of TESDA in the Cordillera region. Under this particular training program, it is the provincial office of TESDA Benguet that augmented logistics for its implementation,” Baroña said.

He explained that aside from the free training, the STEP also provided various packages. Under the STEP, they will be given with starter kits and training allowances.

Under this bread and pastry training, particularly the trainees will be provided with electric ovens and other utensils that they will use to put up a business,” he said.

The trainees also received a P160 per day training allowance for a total of P1, 600 for the 10 day- Bread and Pastry Training course.

During the closing program in the municipality of Luba, Mayor Rosalina Bisacarra encouraged the trainees to engage in business to generate additional income.

“Employ your skills by engaging in the food business, and hopefully, with the help of TESDA, all of you can put up your own bakery soon,” Biscarra said. (JDP/CAGT – PIA CAR, Abra)
