135 youth complete DOLE-10 internship program in Camiguin; over P5.8-M disbursed to TUPAD bens

CAMIGUIN (PIA) — A total of 135 youth beneficiaries here recently completed their three- to six-month internships under the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE)-10 Government Internship Program (GIP), and 1,357 beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) received their salaries that amount to over P5.8 million.

“GIP equips young interns with the essential employment coaching knowledge that provides them with fundamental skills in order to prepare themselves in the world of work and boost their employability,” said DOLE-10 Camiguin Provincial Field Office Chief Arlyn Z. Bael.

She also underlined that GIP is a flagship program that gives student interns the chance to actively participate in government operations and experience public service.

During the GIP culmination event, three selected interns shared their personal learning experiences and the challenges they faced during their internship. In recognition of their successful internship journey, they expressed their gratitude to DOLE for the opportunity and received certificates of completion.

As for the TUPAD payout, the chief noted that the week-long payout was supported by Rep.  Jurdin Jesus Romualdo and other local officials from the province’s five municipalities.

“The beneficiaries were assigned to El Niño-related activities, like tree planting, cleaning, and irrigation, for 10 days’ worth of P428 per day. As recorded, there were 321 beneficiaries from the municipalities of Mahinog, Guinsiliban (145), Sagay (208), Catarman (313), and Mambajao (370),” Bael said.

TUPAD is a community-based program that provides emergency employment to displaced or marginalized workers for a minimum period of 10 days and a maximum of 90 days, depending on the nature of the work assigned.

Bael stressed that these programs underscore DOLE’s commitment to creating opportunities for employment and skill development in Camiguin, contributing to the province’s overall economic growth and resilience. (DOLE-10/PIA-10/Camiguin)
