ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has launched a Mobile Passport on Wheels initiative in partnership with the local government unit in Odiongan. This initiative, which runs from October 19 to October 20, is expected to benefit around 1,400 town residents.
In a radio interview, Odiongan Mayor Trina Firmalo-Fabic shared that the local government will support the DFA representatives in implementing the Mobile Passport on Wheels in the town.
This initiative is part of the LGU’s commitment to provide efficient services to their constituents. The program acknowledges the need of Odiongan residents for passport-related services without the necessity of traveling to Metro Manila.
She added that the program is limited to Odionganons only because the funding is coming from the local government.
Residents interviewed by PIA Romblon are expressing their gratitude for the program, citing the time and money they have saved.
Nomer Forio, a local resident, revealed that the program helped him save an amount of money that he would have otherwise spent on transportation, accommodation, and food had he applied for a passport in Metro Manila.
This is the first time the DFA visited the province since the pandemic. DFA was supposed to visit Romblon, Romblon in 2020 but was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. (PJF/PIA Mimaropa – Romblon)
