QUEZON CITY, (PIA) —  Mayor Jeannie Sandoval, along with the Malabon City Housing and Urban Development Department (CHUDD), presented Certificates of Eligibility for Lot Allocation (CELA) to 147 residents, officially recognizing them as tenants of the land where their homes were built.

The awarding ceremony took place at the Penthouse of the Malabon City Hall and was part of the local government’s commitment to enhance housing and land projects for its residents.

We awarded the CELA to our beloved Malabueños to alleviate their concerns about the security of their homes,” Mayor Sandoval said. “This is part of our goal to ensure a safe, secure, and happy life for our citizens in homes they can now truly call their own. This is a promise we made and continue to fulfill. Our city government is here to support you.”

Dr. Alexander Rosete, the concurrent head of CHUDD and City Administrator, noted that the beneficiaries included members from various associations, such as the Sto. Niño Tenant Neighbor Association and the Gulayan Pilapil Neighbor Association.

The distribution of CELA is part of our ‘Programang Palupa para sa mga Walang Lupa,’ which aims to provide Malabueños with the land where their houses are built and ensure they can manage it responsibly in a safe environment,” Dr. Rosete explained.

Beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to Mayor Sandoval and the city government. Many said the CELA would benefit not just their immediate families but future generations as well.

Having our own home has been a long-held dream. We have three families living in our house because my children are already married. This is a huge help for us,” said Wilfredo Pelonia, a CELA awardee from Sangciangco Street.

The CHUDD also hopes that homeowners associations in Malabon will collaborate with the city government to secure more land for legitimate residents across various barangays.

During the event, the city government conducted a revalidation and update of the names of certain beneficiaries to ensure accurate identification of recipients. (JMP/PIA-NCR)
