148 4Ps beneficiaries get hired in DOLE job fair in Dagupan

DAGUPAN CITY (PIA) — A total of 148 Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries in Pangasinan secured jobs on the spot during the “Trabaho at Serbisyong Pangkalusugan para sa Bagong Pilipinas” program held at the Dagupan City People’s Astrodome on April 25, 2025.

The program featured over 3,000 local and overseas job opportunities, with more than 5,000 4Ps beneficiaries and TUPAD workers from the province in attendance.

Labor Secretary Bienvenido E. Laguesma, one of the key speakers at the event, shared that DOLE and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) collaborated to support 4Ps beneficiaries, particularly those graduating from the program after their seven-year membership, by guiding them toward job opportunities.

“It is very important because we know that our ordinary citizens sometimes feel ashamed, or if no one is there to guide or help them, they won’t do anything,” Laguesma said.

The program featured 21 local private companies and 9 overseas employers that offered job vacancies.

Of the 3,000 4Ps beneficiaries in attendance, 148 were hired on the spot and received an additional P5,000 in financial support from DSWD to help with pre-employment requirements.

Shane Ariel Ablog, 19, from San Fabian, Pangasinan, one of those hired on the spot, expressed her joy at being accepted as a cashier at a private mall in Pangasinan.

“It’s really important for me, because it’s really hard to find jobs these days. I have 4 other siblings, and my father is the only one working as a construction worker while my mother has special needs,” she said.

Likewise, Charinette B. Chan, 36, from San Carlos City, Pangasinan, also expressed her gratitude for the program, which allowed her to apply for a job without having to visit different offices to check for openings.

The successful job fair not only provided immediate employment to 148 individuals but also demonstrated the ongoing efforts to empower and uplift the lives of Pangasinan’s most disadvantaged residents. (CCMT/EMSA/MTR, PIA Pangasinan)
