PIDIGAN, Abra, (PIA) — More than 1,500 job opportunities are open to Abrenian job seekers in the upcoming World Café of Opportunities (WCO) in the province.
Led by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)-Abra, the WCO will be held at Abra Sports Complex in the capital town of Bangued on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, from 7:00am to 5:00pm.
The WCO which is as an annual activity nationwide, serves as a one-stop shop where government agencies, private companies, Tech-Vocational Institutions (TVIs) and financing institutions converge to offer employment, training, competency assessment, and financial assistance to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) graduates and degree holders.
During the Saritaan iti Abra, TESDA-Abra Provincial Director Belmar Angoling clarified that WCO is not only a place where Abrenians can find careers but also a venue to assess and retool their competency and boost their chances in the job market.
“Hindi lahat ng ating graduates ay qualified dahil may mga specific requirements ang mga job vacancies na ito, so this will open a window for them to assess their capabilities, so we have our technical vocational institution partners on the day of the Job Fair to assist them,” Angoling explained.
TESDA reported that the top job vacancies include accounting officers, development officers, marketing officers, field officers, customer care representatives or call center agents, sales associates, cashiers, welders and many more.
Aside from private companies, some national government offices in Abra such as the Bureau of Internal Revenue, PAG-IBIG Fund and PhilHealth also confirmed that they will offer some job vacancies.
The offices of the Philippine Statistics Authority and the Social Security System will be present at the venue to provide the basic documents of job applications such as civil registry documents, identification cards and SSS membership. The WCO is one of the highlights of TESDA’s 30th Anniversary and National Tech Voc Day celebration. (CAGT, PIA-CAR, Abra)
