CEBU CITY, Cebu (PIA) — A total of 180 conflict-affected barangays in Central Visayas have benefited from the government’s Local Government Support Fund- Support to the Barangay Development Program (LGSF-SBDP).

Between 2022 to 2025, a total of P28 million have been released to fund priority projects in the identified communities in the region.

“We are aware that there is already a Negros Island Region. Hence, our report only captures Cebu, Bohol, and HUCs. Aduna natay nahatag from 2022 apil ang 2025 nga mo kabat na ug P28 million with 180 barangays all over Central Visayas, ” said Frizlie Gay Virador, head of the Planning Unit of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Central Visayas during the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas program of the Philippine Information Agency.

Implemented by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the LGSF-SBDP is a government program that aims to address development gaps in conflict-affected barangays, providing funding for priority projects such as infrastructure and basic services.

The areas identified to benefit from the program are barangays that were once affected by conflict and have been cleared of communist insurgency.

Latest data from DILG shows that in 2024, a total of P7.5 million have been allocated for 2 development projects in Bohol and 1 in Cebu.

The national funding for LGSF-SBDP in 2024 was P2.160 billion with 864 beneficiary barangays, which was allocated for a total of three barangays (two are in Bohol and one in Cebu).

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has earlier issued the guidelines on the release and utilization of the P1.95 billion earmarked for LGSF-SBDP in 2025 for 780 cleared barangays nationwide.

Under Executive Order 70 issued in 2018, the BDP became the flagship program of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) to implement sustainable development programs to conflict-prone and conflict-affected barangays by implementing various projects and programs.
