TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) — The Department of Agriculture (DA) in Cagayan Valley has released P57.5 million in financial assistance to 19 farmers cooperatives and associations in Cagayan Valley under the KADIWA Financial Grant Assistance Program.
DA’s initiative aims to support the expansion of agricultural enterprises and improve access to locally produced goods for consumers in the region.
Kay S. Olivas, regional technical director for research and regulations, has urged recipients to use the funds responsibly, emphasizing the importance of transparency and good governance in sustaining agribusiness ventures.
She added that the continued implementation of the KADIWA program demonstrates the DA’s commitment to building a resilient, inclusive, and market-driven agricultural sector in Cagayan Valley.
According to the DA, the grant is expected to benefit at least 34,914 individuals, including members of the cooperatives and several local government units that submitted project proposals.
Ma. Rosario U. Paccarangan, chief of the DA’s Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division, commended the cooperatives for their efforts in uplifting the region’s agribusiness sector.
“Your vast experiences and acquired knowledge in managing your economic enterprises show how truly deserving you are of this support. Your stories continue to inspire us all,” she said.
Paccarangan also emphasized that programs like the KADIWA Financial Grant Assistance reaffirm the DA’s dedication to strengthening agribusiness in the region. (OTB/PIA Region 2, with reports from Julian Florague)
