20 gov’t agencies deliver services during Post-SONA forum in Tuburan, Cebu

CEBU CITY, Cebu (PIA) – Almost 20 government agencies provided their services for the coffee and regular farmers during the POST-SONA Forum held in the municipality of Tuburan on Nov. 8.

Various services such as ‘KADIWA sa Pangulo’ through the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the National Irrigation Authority (NIA) sold vegetables, rice, and other commodities that were sold at affordable prices for the qualified farmer-beneficiaries.

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) also issued drivers’ licenses, renewal and registration of vehicles while the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) issued new clearances for job seekers, among others.

The Rural Health Unit (RHU) also administered flu and pneumococcal vaccines tosenior citizens.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development Region 7 (DSWD) distributed P3,000 each to 350 farmers under the “Ayuda sa Kapos Ang Kita Program” (AKAP) program for a total of P1,500,000.

AKAP aims to assist low-income and minimum-wage earners affected by high inflation or increasing prices of basic commodities.
DSWD-7 also distributed a total of P2,205,000 as financial assistance to six associations under the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP).

The Department of Agriculture 7 turned over a 4-wheel tractor worth P1,640,000 to Tuburan First Consolidated Cooperative Along Tañon Street Seaboards (FCCT) Branch.

The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) distributed indemnity checks to 10 farmers composed of corn farmers and livestock raisers.

One of the highlights of the event was the caravan of services from selected national government agencies, including the Philippine Statistics Authority, Department of Health, Department of Science and Technology, PAG-IBIG Fund, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and the Department of Trade and Industry.

The Post-SONA Forum aims to amplify the key points from Pres. Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr.’s 2nd State of the Nation Address (SONA), which was initiated by the the Presidential Communications Office through the Philippine Information Agency.

The forum was attended by around 350 coffee and regular farmers from 35 barangays in Tuburan.(HFG/PIA7)
