TABUK CITY, Kalinga (PIA) – Twenty job seekers were hired on the spot during the one-day Bodong job fair held on February 11, 2025, according to the Public Employment Service Office (PESO)-Kalinga.
Of the number, 12 were hired as sales associates for Bill Ease, four as service crews for McDonald’s, one as a branch assistant for Palawan, and one as an exploration aide for Lepanto Consolidated Mining Company.
Twenty-two local employers and three overseas partners were invited at the event to offer job opportunities to the local community.
Aside from the job fair, several government agencies and non-government organizations also provided free skills training at the venue for aspiring entrepreneurs.
Kinwa Ethnika offered loom weaving lessons, artisans from Barangay Dupag, Tabuk City, taught bamboo craft making, and Happy Hands, an NGO that supports people with disabilities, provided bread and pastry-making workshops.
The Business and Engineering School of Technology (BEST) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) also gave training on rug making, bread and pastry making, and barista skills.
The event also featured a robotics display by the Department of Science and Technology (and the Department of Information and Communications Technology-Kalinga, and a miniature carpentry showcase by TESDA.
Governor James Edduba reaffirmed his commitment to supporting employment and skills development programs and commended the PESO and the Department of Labor and Employment in the province and other partner agencies for spearheading the event.
