SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA)- – The 2024 Census of Population and Housing (PopCen) and the Community-based Monitoring System (CBMS) data gathering go on in Antique through the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
PSA Antique Supervising Statistical Specialist Rodme A. Febreo, in a radio program with Philippine Information Agency Antique aired at 91.7 Radyo Natin FM, urged the Antiqueño families to support the undertaking by giving time to respond to the questionnaires with accurate information about their households.
Febreo said that the 2024 PopCen-CBMS is a comprehensive data collection for community development essential to the policy-making and development planning of the government.
PSA also noted the importance of the POPCEN and CBMS not only for the inventory of the total population but also for the distribution of National Tax Allocation of the local government units.

The result of the PopCen also supports the implementation of Republic Act No. 11964 “Automatic Income Classification of the Local Government Unit Act.”
For CBMS, the survey will gather data on vulnerable persons in specific households such as single parents, persons with disabilities, and pregnant women.
It also hopes to collect data on migration, health, education, current social protection programs, perception of safety within the community, water sanitation and hygiene, and some housing characteristics, including household convenience.
Febreo also said that the data gathered by CBMS will be used in the government’s Poverty Alleviation program, which could generate actual data for social protection programs.
With this, PSA calls for the support of all households to participate in the survey as mandated under the Republic Act 10625 or the Act Reorganizing the Philippine Statistical System.
The local officials are also urged to assist the enumerators to ensure that no one will be left out including those in hard-to-reach areas.
It can be noted that Antique registered a 612,974 population based on the 2020 PopCen. (EAD-PSM/PIA-Antique/MPO-GIP)
