TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol (PIA) – The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), together with the Regional Development Council 7 (RDC 7), in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Bohol launched the Filipinnovation Awards 2025 at the New Provincial Capitol Building in Tagbilaran City on Feb. 25.

NEDA-7 assistant regional director Evelyn Nacario-Castro oriented the participants, which included representatives from universities in the province as well as micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Filipinnovation Awards, also known as the National and Regional Innovation Awards and Competitions (NRIAC), is a new initiative of NEDA that recognizes and supports Filipino innovators making transformative contributions to national development.

This annual competition highlights early-stage commercialization, promotes innovation, connects innovators with stakeholders, and attracts investments to foster a culture of innovation in the Philippines.

It also aims to be the most prestigious awards program in the country, with the national winner receiving an award from the President of the Philippines.

The competition is open to all enterprises and individuals with innovative products or services that are currently in the early stages of commercialization and are 100% Filipino-owned and registered.

With this year’s competition focusing on three key themes, including the Learning and Education, Health and Well-being, and Food and Agribusiness, the competition is structured into a two-stage process.

Participants will first compete at the sub-national level, divided into four geographic clusters: National Capital Region (NCR), Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

The top 15 finalists from these regional clusters will move on to the national stage to compete for the national recognition.

Five winners will be selected to receive different benefits, including grants, mentorship, national recognition, participation in international events, and access to investment opportunities to scale their innovations.

Aspiring Boholano innovators are encouraged to apply early to be part of this new initiative.

The deadline for submissions is on March 20, 2025.
