2025 regional athletic meet brings together 8,000 delegates to DavNor

TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte (PIA):  About 8,000 delegates converged Sunday (March 9), at the Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex in Brgy. Mankilam, Tagum City for the opening of the Davao Region Athletic Association (DAVRAA) Meet 2025 hosted by the local governments of Davao del Norte and Tagum, and the Department of Education (DepEd) XI.

The event also generated  the attendance of local chief executives (LCEs), parents, a number of audiences from various LGUs of Davao del Norte while some came from other areas in Davao Region.

DAVRAA Davao del Norte coordinator Giovanne I. Gulanes, department head of the Provincial Youth and Development Office (PSYDO) calculated each of the 11 DAVRAA delegations to bring in an average total of 700 members with 500 students, accompanying coaches, chaperones, secretariat, and support staff.

The DAVRAA  2025 will last until March 15.

The Provincial Government of Davao del Norte and Tagum City LGU has provided the playing venues mostly at the Davao del Norte Sports Complex   and at the Energy Park. PLGU Davao del Norte extends equipment for various DAVRAA games, and takes the lead in arranging the medical and the security teams deployment.

While the Davao del Norte Police Provincial Office (DNPPO) sent off its DAVRAA security team on March 07, the provincial government finalized with Tagum City DepEd the delegation billeting quarters at public schools in Tagum City in anticipation of the arrival of some advance parties before the meet opening.

Among the schools tapped as billeting areas are  the Tagum National Trade School, Visayan Village Central Elementary School, La Filipina National High School, Laureta Elementary School, Laureta National High School, Magugpo Pilot Central Elementary School, Mangga Elementary School, Magugpo Pilot Imelda Elementary School, La Filipina Elementary School, Don Ricardo Briz Central Elementary School, Conocotan National High School, F. De La Cruz Sagun Elementary School, Tagum City National Comprehensive High School. (JMDA, PIA XI)
