CEBU CITY, Cebu (PIA) – Twenty four winners were declared during the ‘Takbo para sa West Philippine Sea’ Advocacy Run held at the SM Seaside, Cebu City on Aug. 11.
The run involved four (4) categories, namely: 16k, 10k, 5k and 2k.
More than 500 runners joined the 16k category, 776 for the 5k, 761 for the 10k, and 202 for the 2k.
Prince Joey Lee clinched first place for the 16k, followed by Florendo Lapiz for the second place, and Ian Simbahon for the third place under the male category.
For the 16k female category, first place went to Lizane Abella, followed by Ave Marie Abos for the second place, and Kimberly Ann Bernaldez for the third place.

Each winner received a medal and a loot bag that contained the information, education and campaign (IEC) materials to counter the proliferation of misinformation about the West Philippine Sea.
The advocacy run aimed to rally public support for the Philippines’ fight to uphold its sovereignty and maritime rights in the West Philippine Sea.
The participants had the opportunity to join a meaningful cause while showing their patriotism to our beloved country.
The event was organized by the RUNRIO Inc., the Philippine Coast Guard, National Task Force-West Philippine Sea, Philippine Information Agency, and the Presidential Communications Office.
The campaign features a series of three advocacy runs held across Manila, Cebu, and Cagayan de Oro which will be held on Sept. 8. (HFG/PIA7)
