BANGUED, Abra, (PIA) — The Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) in Abra facilitated a three-day digital literacy training dubbed as ‘Project CLICK’ (Courses for Literacy on the Internet and Computer Knowledge) among senior high school students in the province.
Said training aims to upscale the participants’ knowledge and skills on the basic foundation of computer operations such as word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations, among others.
A total of 25 senior high school students from Abra High School, La Paz Integrated School, Pulot National High School, Marc Ysrael B. Bernos Memorial National High School, and Western Abra National High School joined the training.
Through the initiative of Congresswoman Ching Bernos, the participating schools were also given ICT equipment such as Lenovo laptops with mouse.
Project CLICK is one of the government’s program that makes digital literacy training and equipment available in the grassroots.
Abra High School student Kurt Mozzes Kiaso said that the program helps increase his productivity in accomplishing his assignments and activities.
“Mayat nga opportunidad ta adu ti naadal ko. Especially tatta daytoy ICT ket makatulong kaniak ti panagubra ti activities ko aglalo tattan nga mostly digital,” Kiaso said in an interview.
[This is a great opportunity, I learned a lot. Especially now that it’s mostly digital, ICT will help to accomplish my activities easier.]
Kiaso, who dreams of becoming an engineer, said that the training program is one of his stepping stones in becoming more tech-savvy in future.
DICT-Abra Project Development Officer Kevin Tarriela explained that Project Click is is one of the government programs that make digital literacy training and equipment available in the grassroots. It is an approach in reducing digital divide among all Filipinos.
“Daytoy ket maysa nga programa ti DICT ag provide ti digital literacy training as well as ICT tool for identified beneficiaries, not only in Abra but also the whole nation. So, our participants here received brand new laptops,” Tarriela said.
The DICT’s hopes to bring its digital Literacy trainings and provision of ICT equipment to the remote towns. (JDP/CAGT – PIA CAR, Abra)
