2M PhilSys IDs out in MIMAROPA region

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) —  More than 2 million Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Identification Cards (IDs) have already been issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in the MIMAROPA region.

During the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas of the Presidential Communications Office and Philippine Information Agency held today, July 23, in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro, PSA MIMAROPA Regional Director Leni Rioflorido said that they have already issued a total of 2,085,643 ePHILIDs in the entire region as of July 17, 2024.

She said that of the total issued ePHILIDs, some 713,581 are in Palawan; 649,402 in Oriental Mindoro; 349,088 in Occidental Mindoro; 213,704 in Romblon; and 159,868 in Marinduque.

Rioflorido added that as of July 17 this year, they have recorded a total of 2,680,673 national ID registrants in the MIMAROPA region.

On the other hand, she revealed that of the total issued ePHILIDs, around 984,000 national IDs have already been delivered to individuals as of April 30, 2024.

Rioflorido emphasized the importance of PhilSys ID as it plays a crucial role in fostering inclusivity and efficiency for Filipino citizens, stressing that by using this ID,  the citizens can easily establish their identity and eligibility for programs and services offered by the government.

She also clarified that the use of a Driver’s License is valid, refuting the claim of the local media that his relative’s driver’s license was not honored in filing or even claiming the documents from the PSA.

She said they have a special lane for those who already have a PhilSys ID to fast-track document facilitation.

“We still have people to assist those with no PhilSys IDs, we continue our services,” Rioflorido said.

Meanwhile, Rioflorido said that they have already started the registration of children aged one to four years old.

The Kapihan also featured discussions on the benefits of the PhilSys ID, things to remember in the registration of birth and death certificates, legitimation processes, misspelled entries in the birth certificate, correction of records, roles and permits of solemnizing officers for the wedding events, among others.

The Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas serves as a platform for dialogue and collaboration to further advance the services of the government. The program is organized by the Presidential Communications Office and implemented by the Philippine Information Agency.  (LTC/PIA MIMAROPA)
