SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte (PIA) — “Nalipay ko pag-ayo nga nadawat na nako ang titulo sa lupa. Pwede na nako ikapanghambog na ako na maoy tag-iya sa yuta,” said Eppie C. Tordillo,73, who was overwhelmed when he received the land title under his name.
[I am happy to receive the land title. I can now boast that I already have a lot of my own].
This, after a total of 30 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) received their land titles during the E-title Distribution Ceremony recently conducted by the Department of Agrarian Reform – Province of Dinagat Islands (DAR-PDI)at P-4 Don Ruben, San Jose, of this province.
During the distribution, there were 36 E-titles handed to the said ARBs covering a total of 33.6002 hectares all located in the municipality of Tubajon.
The E-titles are electronically generated individual titles from lands that were previously covered under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program and issued with collective Certificates of Land Ownership Awards. These were processed under DAR’s Project SPLIT (Support to Parcelization of Lands for Individual Titling).
“Traynta ka tuig gikan nako gitikad ang lupa, na-ako na gyud ang titulo [ I have been tilling this lot for 30 years, finally I have with me my land title],” said Delfin M. Lasco, 59.
“It is pure joy looking at our beloved ARBs holding their own titles. This is a testament that the government is true to its effort to give to our farmers the land that they deserve,” said Engr. Milagrosa B. Bulawan, the OIC-Provincial Agrarian Reform program officer II of DAR-PDI.
Bulawan also encouraged the new ARBs to become members of DAR-assisted organizations for more opportunities towards agricultural productivity resulting in more sustainable farming and increased household income. (SDR, PIA-Surigao del Norte with a report from DAR-SDN)
