IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay (PIA) – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Zamboanga Sibugay Field Office recently hosted an orientation and contract signing ceremony for 30 interns from Zamboanga Sibugay held at the DOLE Zamboanga Sibugay Field Office.
This event marks a significant step in providing public service opportunities and professional growth for the youth in the province.
Myra Piel Reyes, a criminology graduate from Titay town, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in the government sector.
“The DOLE Government Internship Program (GIP) gives fresh graduates like us valuable experience and insight into public service,” Reyes said.
Provincial Director Elamsalih Ungad emphasized the important role of the GIP in shaping the future of public service and providing young individuals with the skills and experience necessary to contribute meaningfully to their communities.
Senior Officer Michael Vincent Macrohon provided an overview of the program, detailing its aims to offer practical experience, hands-on learning, and significant engagement with government work.
Interns will be deployed to different public offices and agencies, where they will acquire knowledge and hands-on experience. They will receive a stipend matching the region’s minimum wage along with GSIS insurance to safeguard them against work-related risks.
The GIP, established under Executive Order No. 139 of 1993 and part of Kabataan 2000, is designed to help young individuals contribute to public projects and prepare for their future careers.
After their three-month stint, interns will receive a certificate of completion, enhancing their professional credentials and readiness for future career opportunities.

Interns gain practical skills and contribute to building a skilled workforce in Zamboanga Sibugay, reflecting the government’s commitment to nurturing future leaders and strengthening the community through public service. (JPA/RBI/KDF/PIA9-Zamboanga Sibugay)
