306 families in Baroy town to benefit from government’s housing program

BAROY, Lanao del Norte (PIA) — The Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Housing (4PH) program will benefit a total of 306 families here.

The government’s affordable housing initiative is constructing a seven-story building with 306 housing units following the groundbreaking ceremony. It will include amenities like a playground and swimming pool. The project is expected to be completed by 2025.

This project benefits government employees who are Pag-IBIG Fund members, including local government workers, police officers, soldiers, teachers, job order personnel, and others.

The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), under President Ferdinand Marcos’ administration, is implementing this flagship program, which offers reasonably priced homes and reduces monthly amortization costs through various subsidies.

DHSUD-10 Regional Director Ariel B. Abragan stated that beneficiaries will only pay around P3,400 per month, which is significantly less than other properties elsewhere. The 5 percent government subsidy on the outstanding loan interest rate makes this affordability possible.

“Pasalamatan nato ang atong presidente ug secretary para aning programa. Ang atong goal ani kay katong mga low-income families magkabalay gayud.  Kini ka gamay nga step makapausab sa kinabuhi sa mga lumulupyo dinhi sa Baroy,” he said.

(Let’s thank our president and DHSUD secretary for this program. Our goal here is for low-income families to have their own homes. This small step can change the lives of the residents here in Baroy.)

Pag-IBIG Fund Trustee Anthony Cesar Arellano called on the beneficiaries to give importance to the project.

“Tayo dapat magpasalamat lalo na sa oras ng municipal employees, teachers, job order personnel, Philippine National Police, at  nurses. Welcome kayo dito sa housing ng Baroy. Kaya pangalagaan natin ang proyektong ito. Ang Pag-IBIG nandito lang nakabantay sa inyo at ganoon rin ang mother agency,” he said.

(We should express our gratitude, especially to municipal employees, teachers, job order personnel, the Philippine National Police, and nurses. You are welcome here in the housing project of Baroy. Let’s take care of this project. Pag-IBIG is here, and so is the mother agency.)

As a result, the people of Baroy expressed gratitude for the new housing program that was initiated in their municipality.

Mayor Grelina Mantohac-Lim conveyed her gratitude to the President  and emphasized her commitment to  supporting his administration.

“Dako kaayo ko’g pasalamat sa atong mahal na Presidente Bongbong Marcos. Gikan sa akong puso, ako naa gyud ko sa administrasyon sa inyo, tungod sa paghimo kaning programa labi na kani daghan kaayong tawo ang matabangan,” she said.

(I am very thankful to our beloved President Bongbong Marcos.  From the bottom of my heart, I am truly with your administration, especially because this benefits many people.)

Moreover, Septiah Michelle Berdon, 24, an employee at the local government, is thankful for the housing program. She shared that she was a working student and now supports her siblings, who are still studying. Despite facing financial struggles and family responsibilities, she remains hopeful for a brighter future for her family.

“President, thank you so much nga naa ni nga project. Wa ko ga-expect, grabe ka overwhelming nga naay pabahay. Wala ko ga-expect nga naa diay ani nga posible nga mahitabo,” she said.

(President, thank you so much for initiating this project. I didn’t expect it would be so overwhelmingly wonderful to have housing. I didn’t expect that this could actually happen.)

Meanwhile, Lailanie Baguio, 53, a job order employee at the local government, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to have a safer home. Living near the sea, she emphasized the challenges during storms when floods enter their area.

Under the same program, Tubod town will see the construction of a 15-story twin-tower residential condominium with 750 units following a groundbreaking ceremony last year. (LELA/PIA-10/Lanao del Norte)
