DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental (PIA) – Thirty-two beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) were hired on the spot during the “Trabaho sa Bagong Pilipinas” (TBP) that was visited by Pres. Ferdinand R. Macros Jr. on Feb. 20 in the city.
The TBP job fair aimed to provide employment and livelihood opportunities to pre-identified (4Ps) beneficiaries transitioning out of the program in the province.
In his message, President Marcos said that through the job fair, livelihood opportunities will be made more accessible, inclusive, and anchored on the poverty alleviation efforts of the government.
“Sana itong ating ginagawa ay makatulong na mapaganda ang inyong kabuhayan, magpaganda ng buhay ng inyong pamilya at nang sa ganoong paraan ay mapaganda ang minamahalal nating Pilipinas,” the President said.
Held at the Macias Sports Center, the TBP marked the fourth in a series of job fairs conducted nationwide by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Department of Agriculture (DA).
DSWD7 regional director Shalaine Lucero said they partnered with DOLE and DA for the TBP to help the 4Ps beneficiaries, who are about to exit the program, find employment.
“Ang DSWD mi collaborate sa DOLE ug DA para sa Trabaho sa ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ job fair na ang katuyoan ani katung atung mga 4Ps na graduating o hapit na mograduar sa 4Ps mogawas na sila sa programa atung giseguro na dunay silay priority for employment,” said Lucero.

DOLE and the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in the city have invited 15 local and overseas employers to offer 2,000 vacancies to qualified applicants.
One 4Ps beneficiary that was hired on the spot was Renlyn Fernandes, 27, from Amlan town, who was hired as administrative staff of a local supermarket.
“Happy ko na hired-on-the-spot kay gawas makatabang nako sa family, naa sab say ihatag financial assistance from DSWD,” said Fernandes.
(I am happy because aside from being hired on the spot, I can further help my family because I can also receive financial assistance from DSWD.)
Under DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS), P3,000 will be given to applicants who are hired on the spot during the jobs fair. (JCT/PIA7 Negros Oriental)
