CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) — A total of 379 health workers from Calapan City’s 24 barangays received their Health Emergency Allowance (HEA) on June 10, 2024.
The overall payout, amounting to ₱13,815,000, is in recognition of their service from 2021 to 2023 during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.
The funds for the HEA, provided by the Department of Health (DOH), were handed over to the City Government of Calapan, ensuring that the city’s frontline health workers are compensated for their invaluable contributions during the health crisis.
City mayor Marilou F. Morillo, who was present at the payout ceremony, expressed her gratitude to the health workers for their unwavering commitment and tireless efforts throughout the pandemic.
In a recent post by Morillo in her official social media account, she cited the city’s commitment in enhancing healthcare services, and invited health workers to engage with her office.
“My office remains open to all, especially to our health care workers who are vital in our continuous efforts to improve the health care system in Calapan,” she added. (JJGS/PIA MIMAROPA-Oriental Mindoro)
