ILOILO CITY (PIA) — The 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division of the Philippine Army has lauded the Special Task Group on Countering CTG Resource Generation for Region 6 (STG-CCRG) for their efforts including the filing of terrorism financing cases against the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG)- affiliated organizations in the region.
Three individuals were arrested after the issuance of warrants of RTC Branch 31 in Iloilo City for violations of the Anti-Terrorism Financing Law. This operation marks the commitment of JRTF-ELCAC 6 and STG-CCRG in upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety and security of the people in Western Visayas.
The 3ID recognizes the insidious nature of the terrorist financing network which operates through front organizations disguised as legitimate entities. These groups, often masking their true intentions, exploit both international and local sources to provide vital material, financial, and logistical support to sustain the CTG’s terroristic activities and exploitation of communities in far-flung areas.
According to 3ID, through its commander Major General Marion R. Sison, the arrest and subsequent prosecution of those involved in financing terrorism are vital steps towards establishing the state of Stable Internal Peace and Security (SIPS) in the region.
Moreover, the 3ID remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting the government’s efforts to end the local communist armed conflict.
“Let’s continue to work together and finish the fight against terrorism financing. By this, we can bring the CTG to its ultimate end. Through our continued cooperation, collaboration and resolute dedication, we can put an end to this menace and establish a Stable internal Peace and Security environment in this region,” noted Sison.
