4 events await PBBM’s 1st Cebu visit in 2025

CEBU CITY, Cebu (PIA) – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is set to visit Cebu for the first time this year on Jan. 30.

The president is scheduled to attend four different events to be held in Cebu City and Lapu-Lapu City.

He will begin his visit by attending the Regional Development Council 7 (RDC-7) meeting, which will discuss updates and progress of the presidential priority projects and other infrastructure flagship projects of the Marcos administration.

It will also tackle the major regional development challenges and corresponding interventions to be presented by the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA).

Afterwards, Pres. Marcos will lead the national gathering of lawyers during the 20th National Convention of Lawyers organized by the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP), where 3,984 IBP-registered lawyers will be attending the event.

He will then proceed to the Cebu Provincial Capitol to attend a luncheon meeting with the governors and vice governors from the Visayas provinces, hosted by the Cebu provincial government.

To conclude his one-day visit in Cebu, the president will lead the inauguration of the Mactan Cebu International Airport Alternate Runway at the MCIA Terminal 2.

The opening of the alternate runway is expected to address increasing air traffic demand, passenger and cargo volumes, ensuring continuous and smooth airport operations during emergencies and runway closures.

The last time the President visited Cebu was on July 9, 2024 where he officially opened the 64th Palarong Pambansa at the Cebu City Sports Center and attended the inauguration of the SteelAsia Manufacturing Corporation’s (SAMC) steel plant in Compostela town. (RGC/PIA7 Cebu)
