DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental (PIA) — Some 4,179 job vacancies will be open for job seekers during the Mega Job Fair activity on May 1, 2025 at the Lamberto Macias Sports Center, this city.

The job fair is a joint undertaking of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in line with the observance of the 123rd Labor Day celebration.

Provincial PESO manager Alein Balsamo said that 14 local employers will be offering 701 job vacancies to job seekers on that day.

The job vacancies include call center agents, sales clerks, and service crew which covers the information and communication industry, wholesale and retail trade industry, and accommodation and food service industries.

Meanwhile, five overseas employment agencies will be offering 3,477 job vacancies during the job fair, such as hospitality workers and cleaners in the accommodation and food service industry, human health and social work industry, and manufacturing industry.

“This special occasion is more than just a date in the calendar. Labor Day is a tribute to every worker who contributes to the growth and development of our nation and what better way to honor this than by creating opportunities for employment and career advancement through this job fair,” Balsamo said.

She advised the job seekers to bring multiple copies of their resume, certificates of training (if available), passport, and NBI clearance for those aiming to apply for overseas employment, and valid government –issued identification cards.

Balsamo also assured that the participating employers are legitimate firms and not scammers.

Naa gyud tay clearance from the DOLE for the local (employers) and certificate of no pending case. Kato mga employer nga ganahan mo-join but naa sila pending case, dili sila maka-apil sa job fair. For overseas, moagi ta og Department of Migrant Workers (DMW). Before pod na makaapil ang overseas nga employer, naa siya clearance from DMW,” she said.

(The local employers must secure clearance from DOLE and present a certificate of no pending case. For employers who are interested to join but have pending cases, they cannot participate in the job fair. Overseas employers are also required to get clearance from DMW before participating in the job fair.)

Meanwhile, DOLE senior labor and employment officer Diego Nochefranca said they have invited 19 government agencies to set up a “one-stop shop” at the sidelines of the job fair.

“Daghan na ang ni-confirm such as PRC, TESDA, NBI, SSS, PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG. Ang PRC mismo niingon sila, kaya to man gihangyo nga kung pwede ba ang serbisyo nila anha dayon makuha during the said celebration, so ang PRC ni-commit na kong mo-renew ta sa atong PRC license pwede na daw, mag-printing sila didto,” Nochefranca said.

(Many agencies have confirmed their participation like PRC, TESDA, NBI, SSS, PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG. We also appealed to the PRC if they can extend their major service during the celebration and they committed that they will print licenses on site for those who would like to renew their PRC license.)

This year’s Labor Day celebration is anchored on the theme “Manggagawang Pilipino Kaagapay sa pag-unlad, sandigan ng mas matatag na Bagong Pilipinas.” (RAL/PIA7-Negros Oriental)
