CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga (PIA) –Four hundred sixteen informal workers in the province are the latest beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay para sa Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
DOLE-Kalinga head Avelina Manganip said the beneficiaries include 50 from Balbalan, 166 from Riza, and 200 from Tabuk City.
The provincial government tied up with DOLE that provided the P2 million fund for salaries of workers, Manganip disclosed.
Governor James S. Edduba said the TUPAD work schedule for this batch of beneficiaries was in time to provide workers from low-income families some financial aid for a joyous celebration of the Yuletide season.
The 10-day work under the program was rendered December 1-15, last year.
The daily wage rate for those who worked December 1-4 was P400 but was adjusted to P430/day effective December 5, 2023 based on the new daily minimum wage rate in the region.
The government through the TUPAD provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers, by providing them temporary community work for at least ten days. (JDP/LL-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
